United Community Wellness
was created to share my lifelong passion, skills and expertise with the community.

About Me
For over 22 years, I have worked exclusively in the practice area of Perinatal and Women’s Health, caring for hundreds of women, mothers, and babies throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, postpartum, and during surgery and recovery. Throughout these years, I have gathered extensive knowledge, skills, and experience related to perinatal and women’s health.
My Journey
Beginning early in my childhood, I was passionate about caring for babies and intrigued by healthcare providers. One of my earliest childhood memories is of a nurse who gave me her time, attention, and smiles - I thought she was really great.
I wanted to be near moms and help with their babies whenever I had the chance. This interest and deep-rooted passion would eventually become my career.
Most recently, I achieved Canadian Certification in Perinatal Mental Health (CC-PMH), as well as certification in Holistic Nursing, Nurse Coaching, and Consultancy (CCHNC-C).

I also attend births in the community as a Second Birth Attendant and very much enjoy working alongside the Registered Midwives of Central Alberta as they provide care
and support to women and their families during labour, birth, and the early postpartum period.

I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Distinction and have been a practicing Registered Nurse since that time. Prior to becoming a Registered Nurse, I worked in healthcare as a Psychiatric Aide and an Undergraduate Nurse.

I truly love what I do and consider it such an honour and privilege to care for and support women and their families during this deeply personal, transformative, and memorable time in their lives.

Continued nursing education, evolving opportunities
and a changing healthcare landscape...
... combined with my deep passion for Perinatal and Women’s Health — led me to create United Community Wellness. Through this approach, there is time and space to provide professional, highly skilled, holistic nursing care and support within the community —
care that is centred around and responsive to women's health and wellness.
More About Me
Family is the most important thing to me. I am a wife - married to my high school sweetheart - and mom to three boys. Our oldest is a young adult, and our youngest are teenagers. They are my greatest source of love and happiness, and the life experiences we share continually teach me so much. Together, we have navigated many twists and turns, ups and downs as a family.
I am a daughter, sister, niece, cousin, auntie, and friend.
Though my grandparents are no longer with me, each of them deeply influenced the person I am today. I hold every one of these relationships and roles close to my heart.
My personal life and experiences - becoming a mother, raising my children, and both receiving and giving support within the community - are woven deeply into the creation of United Community Wellness. This personal connection is reflected in each of my nursing service offerings.
When I’m not out in the community providing nursing care,
you’ll find me at home on the farm with my family.

Sharing Some
Moments
I’m left-handed, and so is one of my sons. Lots of moments of smudged writing and left-handed jokes.
I love music. Pretty much any variety - to match any emotion or moment.

A great day for me is time spent outdoors in the sunshine, visiting over a cup of tea or coffee, or tending to my flowerbeds.

I didn't become a coffee drinker until well into my thirties. Not through nursing school, night shifts, or being up with babies through so many sleepless nights.
Both of my pregnancies were medically defined as high risk. With a lot of preparation, planning, conversations, and ongoing support - and surrounded by respectful care providers - both ended as low-intervention birth days.
We travelled to Australia and backpacked along the east coast for seven weeks during the second trimester of my first pregnancy. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and filled with unforgettable moments.
Two pregnancies, three babies? Yes, the youngest are twins! Finding out we were expecting twins - that was definitely a memorable moment, and life shifted from busy to even busier.

delivered with respect, kindness, and compassion.
